9 Reasons Why You Should Use WordPress

9 Reasons Why You Should Use WordPress

WordPress currently runs over 66 million websites.

That’s around 17% of the entire world’s websites that are up and running thanks to the trusty platform. It has nearly 20,000 people making money from using it every single day. Not only does WordPress offer complete translation in many different languages, such as German, Polish, Dutch, and French. The platform is highly thought of in the internet world and is used a lot since it’s trustworthy and totally free. There are so many websites that use WordPress including CNN, Forbes and TechCrunch. 19,000 plugins are available on the site (see our article on the 3 most essential WordPress plugins here.) It is also estimated that the various different plugins available on the platform have been downloaded around 285 million times!

9. The WordPress Community.

Using the WordPress platform allows you as a person or business to interact, provide support and exchange ideas with other members of the website. There are forums available for this or if you get the chance you can attend WordCamp events in person where you can meet and greet people from around the world.

8. WordPress is extremely popular.

It’s not surprising that WordPress is so popular given the ease of use and the thousands of professional themes and plugins available. At least 27% of all websites out on the internet are (or have been) powered by WordPress.

7. It is search engine friendly.

There are so many plugins that can help improve the SEO of your website including the Yoast plugin. Allowing WordPress to run your site can solve thousands of SEO issues that you had no idea how to solve yourself.

6. WordPress is great for bloggers.

If you own a blog you probably don’t have the slightest clue on how to code or create websites. Having your blog on a WordPress platform means you can visually create the website yourself if you’re on a budget. (If you’re looking for professionals to create your site – take a look at our packages available.)

5.  It is ready for mobile.

You’ve probably heard of the importance of having your website ‘mobile friendly’, a lot of web designers must spend endless hours creating (basically 2 websites) in order to allow their websites to be mobile friendly, but most WordPress themes automatically do this for you. No hassle with the WordPress platform.

4. WordPress is over 10 years old.

This means that WordPress is mature and therefore very trustworthy. During the last 10 years the team behind WordPress has tested, refined, and enhanced the site so it has it been able to keep up with the times.

3. WordPress is open source

Just because you would want to use the WordPress platform doesn’t mean to say that you must build the site there. It is possible for a web designer to code a site manually and then transfer the content onto WordPress for easier accessibility and allowing the user to upload to the site using a simple layout.

2. It is one of the best.

Undoubtedly there are many other websites similar to WordPress, such as BlogSpot, but nothing compares to the high-quality services you get when you use WordPress. It has so many features readily available and is so easy to use, it’s the best around. Ask anyone!

1. It’s totally free

Is there anymore that needs to be said? Probably not. The site is completely free and they claim it always will be. This means you’ll have your site sorted for free for as long as you need.

3 Essential WordPress Plugins for Small Businesses

3 Essential WordPress Plugins for Small Businesses

WordPress is an online tool which can be used to build all sorts of websites, platforms, and creations. It is most commonly known for hosting a lot of blog websites. However, there are so many websites that actually use it as their main platform to put up regular content. Websites such as; beyonce.com (musician’s website), bata.com (website that sells shoes) and mtvnews.com (news outlet site). WordPress is extremely handy for websites that need regular content and that’s why it is so popular. You can create amazing websites and designs with it with a little bit of help (oh we can help you out, here by the way) as there is an endless amount of possibilities with it. Plugins are used on WordPress to allow the site to be designed easier. This also helps to make everything run more smoothly.

Yoast SEO

The number one SEO plugin for WordPress and is totally free. It allows users to control their SEO through focus keywords, content analysis and meta descriptions. Users can take control of their website through the SEO. This allows the website to be seen by more and more people. The plugin also comes with a paid-for addition that users can choose to pay for. Although these services are better than the free version, small businesses only really need the free version. The plugin also allows you to change the URL names. The people are a lot more likely to click on links that look genuine so why not sort out your website links with this plugin?

W3 Total Cache

One of the only WordPress Performance Optimisation plugins that many web developers and hosts recommend. Its purpose is to naturally improve the SEO and users experience of the site by increasing the websites performance and reducing download times via various different features. It can also improve the web server performance and thus sustain high traffic periods. It does a lot of caching (hence the name!) and therefore everything is in good hands with this plugin. If you’re looking for a plugin that is going to help your website reach more people, quickly then this plugin is for you!

WooCommerce

For businesses who want to sell services or products to their viewers and visitors. It is a free eCommerce plugin where you can literally sell anything. Built to work with WordPress and therefore it is probably the best eCommerce plugin you can get for your site. WooCommerce powers 30% of all online stores which is more than any other single platform. The plugin can allow the buyer to choose whether they pay by card, PayPal, bank transfer or even cash on delivery of the product. The best part of the plugin is the fact that you can control it, forever. No one is going to add or remove extensions or even change your design (unless you let them!) so all of your products and information is safe with the plugin.

All About SEO and Improving It

All About SEO and Improving It

SEO is short for Search Engine Optimisation and is the process of getting traffic to your website through search results on different search engines; whether it is Google, Bing or even Yahoo. Getting traffic to your website helps people see it more often, the general rule of thumb is that the more traffic you get, the higher in the search ranks you become meaning that people are more likely to click on it. People are often concerned with SEO as it helps improve and grow their business. Afterall, the internet is a huge place and having your site at the top of it really does drive more traffic. Much like money, the more you have, the more that will come to you. Traffic and SEO are essential to any business that wants to be successful especially in this day and age.

SEO targets different kinds of search

This includes image, academic, video and even news search. It also changes depending on your local and the optimization of that search engine. For example, if you owned a small hair dressers in Liverpool, your SEO should be tailored so it is higher in the areas around Liverpool. This is great as your company is able to get more business and new customers.

Business’ online presence is effected

Which means that if you are active on your site (as an admin or content creator) the pages can be displayed higher in the search engine. This is often because the more recent content is on your site, the more relevant it is. Haven’t you ever wondered how sites get to the top of search engine searches? It’s all about being active online.

It’s all about writing fantastic, useful content

That uses words and phrases like people who search for your products and services. Good sites don’t link poor quality content and, why should they? You also should take active steps to make it easy for people to share your content and link things to it – slugs (the URL address of your site) is also very important as an ugly won’t get clicked on too much, and as much as it sounds stupid; it’s true.

Some people advise

To have your site using various other methods of sharing too, so it’s not all down to social media. A good trick is having a newsletter. Having 2,000 people subscribed to a newsletter means that they are going to read it every (month or two weeks) and therefore you’ve already got regular viewers and visitors to your website meaning you’ve instantly improved your SEO ranking. It’s also good to share your site when you attend events and conferences in person – despite the internet being an amazing, there is nothing like word of mouth. Get yourself some business cards and get talking about your business, be proud of the company you have and services you offer.

It’s just all about the small things; the good content, regular uploads and making sure you’re up to date with the latest trends as no one wants to read last year’s news now!
